5/31/07 The Rosemary Clooney House will hold a special service at 11 .m. on Saturday June 2. The blue dress that Rosemary wore in "White Christmas" when she and Vera Ellen sang "Sisters" will be unveiled.

 

3/30/2007 - The Rosemary Clooney House has resumed its weekend operating hours. If you wish to tour the house during the week - please call 606-756-2603. The House will soon resume regular summer operating hours. Please check back for more details.

 

5/31/06 The Rosemary Clooney House held a special dedication service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3rd to commemorate the 1st Anniversary of the house's soft opening. A costume worn by Rosemary when she co-starred with Bob Hope in Here Come the Girls was unvailed.

 

1/7/06 - Numerous photos of the RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY & PRESS REPORTS from the Grand Opening have been added to the site. The photos also offer a glimpse of the hundreds of items that make up the house's collection.

THE COLLECTION

Since 1980 Rosemary called 106 Riverside Drive her home. Located on the banks of the Ohio River in historical Augusta, KY, this was her retreat from the demands of her career and a haven for rest between performances all over the world.  Visitors can “Come On-A Rosie’s House” where her story comes to life through exhibits that include:

  • touring as “The Clooney Sisters” with Betty in the Tony Pastor’s band

ABOUT US:

The Rosemary Clooney House, Inc. is a non-profit foundation headed by Dr. Steve Henry, former KY Lt. Gov., and his wife, Heather French Henry, former Miss America. The foundation was established to preserve Rosemary Clooney's house, to open it to the public and to house memorabilia from her life and career.

The house held it's "soft opening" on June 4, 2005 and it's "grand opening" on October 1, 2005.

HOURS OF OPERATION

As of 6/1/07 - The Rosemary Clooney House is operating on it's summer schedule. Hours are:

Monday - Friday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Saturdays 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

When the The Rosemary Clooney House is not operating on its Summer schedule and you desire to tour the House, please call 606-756-2603 to arrange a time.

From the West (Kentucky side of the Ohio River): I 275 East: Exit AA (9) Hwy South. Turn Left on KY 19 then Left on KY 8 and Right onto Main Street and Right onto Riverside Drive.

From the West (Ohio side of the Ohio River):. Go East on US 52 to Ferry Landing at Higginsport and cross the Ohio River via the Ferry ($5.00 per passenger car) and continue on Riverside Drive to 106.

From the North (Columbus area): I 71 South to I 471 West to I 275 West to Exit AA (9) Hwy. Turn Left on KY 19 then Left on KY 8 and Right onto Main Street and Right onto Riverside Drive or take US 52 directions above.

From the South (Lexington area): East on US 68 to the AA (9) Hwy to North on KY 19 then Left on KY 8 and Right onto Main Street and Right onto Riverside Drive.

GRAND OPENING PRESS RELEASE

     


The Grand Opening took place the weekend of Sept. 30 through October 2nd.

Plans for the Grand Opening weekend of Rosie's House included:

  • Friday evening a reception/fundraiser was held in Maysville at Rosemary's cousin's home. Ben Breslin invited all to "Come On-A My House" from 8 - 11 p.m. at 219 E. Second Street, Maysville, KY.
  • Donations to the fundraiser were made by Concord Records, Patsy's NYC Restaurant, Hope Enterprises, the Lucy-Desi Museum, the Netherland Plaza Hilton, the Ava Gardner Museum, Caproni's Restaurant, Louisville Stoneware, LoneStar Restaurant, and many others.
  • Saturday morning, October 1st at 11 AM local dignitaries joined the Henry's for the official ribbon cutting ceremony. Rosemary's husband Dante, her brother and his wife, Nick and Nina Clooney, and her sister and husband, Gail and Chris Darley and her childhood best friend Blanchie Mae Chambers participated in the ceremony.
  • Joan Barthel, the co-author of Rosemary's "Girl Singer" held a book signing at the house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Along with the purchase of an autographed copy of "Girl Singer" fans received a lamenated bookmark featuring a photo of Joan and Rosemary taken by Dante in the front yard of Rosie's Augusta home.
  • The first ornament in The Rosemary Clooney House Collection was made available for just $16.95. It's a three-dimensional replica of the front of Rosemary's Augusta home.
  • Merchandise for sale included t-shirts, cds, books, "White Christmas" nightlights, dvds, and christmas ornaments.
  • The second floor of the home was opened to the public. It features Rosemary's bedroom with her actual furnishings plus the Miss America room which houses Heather French Henry, Miss America 2000's gowns, crowns and memorabilia from her days as Miss Kentucky and Miss America.
  • Linda Hope, the daughter of Bob & Dolores Hope and Vice President of Hope Enterprises provided The Rosemary Clooney House with original rare photos and memorabilia featuring Bob and Rosemary from the Hope archives.
  • Building materials salvaged from the demolition of Rosemary's Beverly Hills home at 1019 Roxbury were exhibited. These materials will be used in a planned addition to the Augusta home in 2006.
  • The director's scripts from Rosemary's television shows of the 50's were on display as well as Bob Mackie designs for several of Rosemary's later concert gowns.
  • On Sunday the Belle of Cincinnati Lock & Dam Cruise traveled from BB Riverboats in Cincinnati to Rosemary's Augusta home. Boarding was at 7AM, departure at 8AM, and arrival at Rosemary's at 1PM and return to Cincinnati around 7PM. The Henry's, Dante and Gail were on board for the first part of the trip.
